Shine expands Quality Engineering Practice

QE practice now led by new recruit Prashant Mohapatra

August 12, 2020

In recent years Shine has increasingly been guiding our customers’ evolution from software quality assurance to software quality engineering. As we recruited and embedded more quality engineers and automated testing specialists in our client’s development teams, a QE practice emerged in our organisation.

Shine’s QE Practice is now being led by our newest Senior Quality Engineer, Prashant Mohapatra. Prashant has 12-years’ experience as a test engineer, test manager and consultant, including 5-years with Infosys, and dozens of projects with multinational corporations, pure-digital businesses, and many Australian energy utilities.

Prashant is at the forefront of innovative best practices in transforming the role of quality from assurance to engineering, whereby quality is integrated in the entire software development lifecycle. He’s an ideal addition to Shine’s QE practice, which consults with our clients on QE and testing strategy, automation strategy and frameworks, and transitioning to an agile ‘one-team’ DevOps approach.

Our CTO Luke Alexander explained the agile QE approach that Shine partners with our clients on. “To become highly agile in business transformation, we’re seeing the most successful enterprise development teams working with what we call a ‘one-team, you build it, you run it’ approach. Getting the most from services-based architecture models, CI/CD and DevOps, demands a blurring of the traditional boundaries between dev and testing.”

Shine’s Head of Agile Delivery, Darren Halliday, reports the impact of this approach. “In partnering with our large enterprise clients’ IT organisations, we’ve helped some of them evolve from release timing of monthly or quarterly to as rapid as every two-days.  We’re seeing clients make dramatic improvements in key DevOps measures of excellence like MTTR, Change Failure, Lead Time, and Deployment Frequency.”

Shine’s Quality Engineering Practice includes many consulting quality engineers and automated testing specialists who work on-site and remotely for our clients, from Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.
